Cancelling a lesson, stopping early, and how your money comes back to you
Last updated: 29 September 2026
Eduace arranges live online lessons for learners, taught one to one over a video call by trained Kenyan teachers. A learner, or whoever enrols them, pays Eduace for those lessons, and Eduace pays the teacher. This page sets out what happens to that money when plans change: before the first lesson, part way through a package, on the day of a lesson, and when the fault is ours. It applies to every lesson paid to Eduace, whoever made the payment.
Change your mind before the first lesson and Eduace refunds everything you paid for lessons, in full. Tell us at any point up to the start of that lesson, and no reason is needed.
Where your invoice carries a one-time registration fee, that fee comes back as well when you cancel before a teacher has been matched and introduced to you. Once a teacher has been introduced, the registration fee is kept, because the work of finding that teacher has been done. The refund is issued within 7 business days of your request.
You can stop at any time. The lessons already taught in the month you stop are charged at the single-lesson rate, since the package discount belongs to a complete package, and every paid lesson that has not been taught comes back to you.
Before anything is sent, we show you the sum in full: the lessons taught, the rate applied to them, and the amount returning to you. The refund is issued within 7 business days of your request. If you would like the balance moved to another subject or kept for lessons later on, say so and we hold it as credit on your account. Unused paid lessons and credit never expire.
Every lesson can be moved or cancelled free of charge with at least 24 hours of notice before its start time.
With less than 24 hours to go, tell us all the same. We ask the teacher for another slot, and when one is found the lesson simply moves. When it cannot be moved, the lesson counts as taught. The same holds when a learner does not join and sends no word: the teacher waits 15 minutes from the start time, and the lesson then counts as taught.
If a teacher cancels or misses a lesson, Eduace moves it to a new time at no cost to you, and it is never taken from your package.
Whenever a learner, or whoever enrolled them, asks for a different teacher, Eduace replaces the teacher free of charge, as often as needed. Should a teacher you are happy with still be missing 14 days after your request, Eduace refunds every unused lesson together with the registration fee, in full, within 7 business days.
Write to Eduace through the contact details at the foot of this page or on our contact page. Include the name of the learner, the email address used when the lessons were arranged, the invoice number, and the lessons you want cancelled or refunded.
We confirm your request within 1 business day and tell you the exact amount before it is sent.
Approved refunds are issued within 7 business days, back to the same card or wallet used for the original payment. Your bank or card provider usually shows the credit within 5 to 10 business days after that, and the exact day is set by your bank.
If you would like the amount kept as credit for future lessons, ask and we will hold it on your account. Eduace deducts no processing fee from a refund. Where your card was charged in another currency, the exchange rate your bank applies on the day it posts the refund can make the figure on your statement differ slightly from the original charge.
Four things, and only these: lessons already taught; lessons that count as taught under the 24-hour rule in section 3; the registration fee once a teacher has been matched and introduced, when you are the one who cancels; and the package discount for a month in which you stop early, because the lessons of that month are charged at the single-lesson rate.
Every other payment for a lesson that has not taken place comes back to you.
Pay for lessons to Eduace alone, through the invoice or payment link Eduace sends you. Eduace pays the teacher. A teacher working with Eduace never asks a learner for money, and a request of that kind is worth reporting to us straight away.
Your right to dispute a card payment with your bank stays with you, whatever this page says, and the consumer protection law of the country where you live applies alongside this policy. Where that law gives you more, you receive more.
Send the name of the learner, the invoice number and the lessons concerned. We confirm within 1 business day and state the amount before anything is sent.
